Frequently Asked Questions

WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LEFT OVER 30 DAYS, UNLESS APPROVED

QUESTION: When do I need to protect my soles?
When they are brand new, when you first buy them, put on ‘sole guards’,
as soon as it is possible.

QUESTION: When do you replace the rubber lift on elegant stiletto, low/high rise, shoes?
As soon as you see metal exposed though the rubber heel.
Do NOT continue to wear them – it will cost more to repair then to drill out nail.

QUESTION: Why should I keep my shoes, boots, & sneakers cleaned, waterproofed, & polished?
Polished shoes, boots, waterproofed, and cleaned sneakers will prolong the life of the leather and fabric, protect it against dirt, rain, sleet and snow, acting as a repellant. And, importantly, you look presentable on the job, on an interview, on the tennis court, and on the horse!

QUESTION: Water stains?
Water stains should be cleaned immediately by the shoe Cobbler before they dry to avoid residue stain marks. If wet stain marks are left to dry, it is too late. Water and stain protectors or covering on shoes should be applied before, not after wetness.

QUESTION: What is and when are shoes ‘dry-rotted’?
Dry rot is when material (rubber) deteriorates from normal heat/cold conditions and not worn. Shoes can NOT be salvaged. Shoes need to be replaced.  Dry rot cannot be fixed! Buy some new ones!

QUESTION: What should be done to protect wearing high or low heel shoes on grass or gravel, outside for parties and outdoor events?
To protect and preserve, must put on ‘clear plastic’ heel protective covers at Cobbler.

QUESTION: Can you repair all leather products like equestrian boots, tack, saddles, crops, golf bags and shoes, pocket books, jackets, luggage, etc…….
YES, most all leather goods, except dry-rot. If it is custom work, it requires custom pricing +++++ it is customer responsibility to ASK FOR PRICING !
